Thank You to all that participated in the May 15, 2010 Willamette River Youth Qualifier.  There were many volunteers and boat captains and I just want to thank them all. I also want to thank the Columbia River Bassmasters for hosting the event for the youth.

There were 2 kids in the 11-14 bracket that competed, with Dezmond McVay coming out on top with a weight of 2.66 pounds.  In the 15-18 bracket there were 8 kids that competed and at the end of the day Nick Chin came in with a impressive 10.18 pounds.  Thank you to all the kids for coming out and fishing and for a job well done.
The next qualifier will be at Cottage Grove Res. July 18, 2010.  The points from that tournament combined with the Willamette River Tournament will determine the overall winner and move them on to next years Divisional in New Mexico.

Oregon Youth Mission Statement

Oregon BASS is committed to actively promote the sport of bass fishing to our youth.  Encourage positive attitudes and good sportsmanship to all fellow anglers. Teach lifelong lessons that will be useful as each youth matures and passes on what he or she has learned to friends and future youth members. Educate about the environment and teach them about conserving our natural resources for the future. But most importantly to have FUN!

** Oregon B.A.S.S Youth needs your Help! **

We are looking for Youth Mentors for our current youth bass clubs around the state. If you are able to donate a few hours of time each month teaching our youth about fishing, lead a meeting, and enjoy working with kids who are passionate about fishing, then we have a spot for you.

** Oregon Youth State Casting Kids Finals **

Over the past year there have been qualifying Casting Kids events being held across the state. We are pleased to announce the Oregon BASS Youth Casting Kids State Final Event is scheduled for Saturday April 11, 2009 hosted by Wilsonville Chevrolet in Wilsonville, Oregon. The event will run from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The qualified participants will be competing for a chance to advance to the Western Divisional in Richland, WA on May 15, 2009. The will be two age brackets qualifying for 1 spot each to represent the state of Oregon at the event. In addition to the finals competition, we will also have a casting competition for any 7-14 year old youth boys and girls with prizes given out. Come out and support out youth. Volunteers are needed if you are able to help out.

** Oregon Youth State Qualifying Fishing Tournament **

Oregon BASS Youth Fishing Tournament Qualifier is scheduled for Saturday June 27, 2009 at Cottage Grove Reservoir. This event is open to any Oregon youth who are members of a youth club and are interested in an opportunity to qualify for next year’s 2010 Western Divisional Competition for the youth.  There are two age groups for this event, 11-14 and 15-18 years of age.  Oregon has had a great representation at the National level the last few years, and would like to continue the tradition.
